Kashim Shettima Early Life and Education:
Kashim Shettima was born into the Shettima Mustafa Kuttayibe family in Maiduguri. He attended Lamisula Primary School and later Government Community Secondary School in Biu, Borno State. In 1983, he completed his secondary education at the Government Science Secondary School, Potiskum. Following this, he pursued higher education and obtained a BSc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Maiduguri in 1989. He then completed his one-year National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) requirement in Calabar, Cross River State. Subsequently, he earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan in 1991.
Kashim Shettima Career:
Shettima’s professional journey started in 1993 when he joined the banking industry as the head of the accounts unit at the Commercial Bank of Africa Limited in Lagos. Over the years, he climbed the corporate ladder, serving as Deputy Manager and Manager at the African International Bank Limited. In 2001, he became the Manager of Zenith Bank’s main branch in Maiduguri. However, his passion for public service led him to join the Borno State government as Commissioner for Finance in 2007. He held various positions in different ministries, including Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Education, Agriculture, and Health.
